Healing through
touch,
one horse at a time
Specialised soft-tissue therapy to restore comfort,
flexibility, and trust between horse and rider — on-yard,
at your yard.
THE PRACTICE
Where anatomy meets intuition
Every horse carries tension differently. Years of repetitive training, compensatory movement, or past injury leave imprints in muscle and fascia that affect performance long before they show as lameness.
Equine Solutions therapy sessions combine evidence-based soft-tissue techniques with a deeply attentive, horse-led approach — working at the pace the horse sets, reading subtle changes in posture and breath.
WHAT I OFFER
Therapy tailored to your horse
Every session is adapted to the individual animal — their history, workload, and
what they communicate to me on the day.
Initial Assessment & Treatment
A thorough postural and gait assessment before hands-on therapy begins. We discuss your horse's history, discipline, and any concerns — then I work through a full-body soft-tissue session.
Maintenance Sessions
Regular follow-up therapy for horses in consistent work. Targets compensatory patterns before they become chronic issues, and keeps performance horses feeling their best between competitions.
Rehabilitation Support
Working alongside your vet and physiotherapist, I provide massage therapy to support horses returning from injury, surgery, or box rest. Co-ordinated care at every stage.
THE APPROACH
What to expect from a session
Listen before you touch
Before I lay a hand on your horse, I want to understand them — their history, routine, recent changes in behaviour or way of going, any veterinary notes. This conversation shapes everything that follows.
Postural & movement assessment
I observe your horse at rest and, where appropriate, in movement — looking at how they carry themselves, where they brace, what they avoid. This informs where the real work needs to happen.
Hands-on soft tissue therapy
Working through effleurage, petrissage, myofascial release, and trigger point work — always led by what the horse tells me through their body language. Tension releases happen at the horse's pace, not mine.
Debrief & home care plan
After each session, I share what I found and what it might mean for your horse's training or management. You'll leave with specific stretches, exercises, or recommendations to support progress between visits.

ABOUT ME
A lifelong horse person, trained to listen with his hands.
I'm Phil — I've been around horses in varying capacities for over 50 years. During those 50 years I have gained a wealth of invaluable knowledge & continue to do so.
The most important thing I have learnt is to "listen" to your horse. Horses do & will communicate with us when something is wrong - we just need to listen.
Having learned to ride at a very young age I began my working life in a riding school. I worked there for numerous years in both a teaching capacity, teaching hundreds of clients to ride, along with managing the day-to-day operation as centre manager. This involved overseeing the daily operations of the centre, balancing horse welfare, staff supervision & business administration.
- Key duties include organizing lesson schedules, ensuring health and safety compliance, maintaining client relationships, and managing stable routines.
Having decided to increase my knowledge & skillset I gained a greater understanding of how horses communicate & how they learn. This then led to backing & training horses under saddle, followed by becoming a fully qualified & certified Equine Sports Massage & Rehabilitation Therapist.
I have competed in several disciplines including show jumping, cross country & dressage. Later on in my life I also judged numerous dressage competitions.
My approach is rooted in respect for the horse as a communicator. When a horse flinches, braces, sighs, or leans into pressure — those are messages. I've trained myself to hear them.
To complement my ESMT through CPD’s I am now able to offer numerous modalities, including: Myofascial Release Therapy, Heat Therapy, Therapeutic Ultrasound, Balance Training, Stretching & Mobilisation, Red Light Therapy along with Microcurrent Therapy. I am also able to offer rehabilitation plans to bring your horse back into work after an injury, or after a long period out of work.
